Cutting CO₂ by up to 80%: HSL Confirms Impact of Its Low-Carbon Silica

New validation results bring fresh insight into the environmental performance of HydroSil, highlighting its potential to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of silica production. These findings mark an important step in demonstrating the viability of low-carbon alternatives for industrial materials, at a time when decarbonization has become a critical priority across sectors.

Through new data derived from the HydroSil Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), HSL demonstrates the disruptive potential of its technology. As a result, this solution could reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 80% for our precipitated silica compared to standard processes.

At an industrial scale, these performances translate into a significant impact: more than one million tons of CO₂ saved per plant per year compared to current production methods. This represents a major step forward for highly emissive industries such as tires, elastomers, and pharmaceuticals.
HSL Technologies validates the environmental impact of its low-carbon silica and continues its Series B fundraising round.

« These results confirm our ability to deliver a concrete, high-performance, and immediately deployable solution to reduce the industrial carbon footprint. Our priority now is to accelerate its industrialization. ».
-Corine Dubruel, Executive President of HSL.-

HSL Technologies is currently conducting a Series B fundraising round to accelerate its industrial deployment and reach a key milestone in its roadmap. This operation primarily aims to finance the construction of an intermediatescale facility in Fos-Martigues by 2029, enabling the validation, at a precommercial scale, of the simultaneous production of renewable hydrogen and low-carbon silica.

This phase will represent a decisive milestone ahead of the deployment of a first industrial-scale plant by 2032, featuring significant production capacities and full process integration. It will also help secure the technical, economic, and regulatory conditions required for large-scale deployment.

Founded in 2015 and based in Aix-en-Provence, HSL Technologies hasdeveloped a breakthrough patented innovation enabling the production and delivery of decarbonized silica in liquid form. Once produced, the solution can store and transport three times more silica within the same volume compared to standard bulk forms.

Primarily composed of green silicon, water, and hydrogen, HydroSil forms a stable, pumpable liquid that can be handled at ambient temperature and pressure using existing liquid infrastructure, thereby eliminating the need for high-pressure or cryogenic systems.

The release reaction enables the delivery of low-carbon silica directly to industrial end users with minimal energy input and at usable pressure levels. At the same time, a high-purity hydrogen co-product is generated and valorized during the solution release process.
